The Devil’s Chair in Cassadaga

Take a seat in the devil’s chair. I visited Cassadega, FL last weekend to check out the urban legend of the devil’s chair. It’s located in the Lake Helen- Cassadaga cemetery. The devil’s chair is a brick graveside bench in the Thacher plot. I sat in the devil’s chair and a ladybug landed on my shoulder.

Urban legends:
1) If you leave an unopened beer can on the chair overnight – when you return the next morning you will find the can empty but sealed.
2) The devil will appear to anyone bold enough to sit in the chair. 👹
Note: It is illegal to go to the cemetery at night due to past vandalism. You can only visit during open cemetery hours during the day.

Local brewery Red Cypress Brewery has a Devil’s Chair beer and inspired me to visit it.
