Do you like your plants with a side of dinosaur or yeti? Lukas Nursery is a huge local family owned plant nursery in Oviedo that has been in business for over 100 years. The indoor plant building has fun statues of a bear, alligator, panther, lizard and some horse head benches. It is free entertainment just to walk around here with your child. My favorite statue is the large yeti.
Lukas Nursery also has a butterfly encounter. You can put Gatorade on your finger tips and then the butterflies drink it. You can have “butterfly hands” with a butterfly on each fingertip if you like. I recommend going in the morning though since the butterfly greenhouse area is not air conditioned. The butterflies like the heat.
Lukas Nursery is having their 36th Annual Fall Festival is on October 12th-13th from 10am-4pm. The festival has a pumpkin patch, pumpkin bounce house, food trucks, pony rides and tractor pulled hay rides. We have been many times. They also have live Christmas trees in December and free seminars here too.
